January 1st and people are calling me and asking me if I am ready to go back to work next week? Next week? I am already working on it. Someone asked me if I see great change in 2010 and I was fast to remind them that the change has to first start in me. My beliefs, my core beliefs, my vision, my goals, my passion, my risks; it all starts with me. It starts with a burning desire to make a difference; starting with me. As the year starts I think of some role models that will allow me to reflect at times and see change in myself, the life around me, and real estate for sale in Waukesha County.

Being a Wisconsinite and being one of the Green Bay Packers fan I have a tendency to dwell at times about a great coach we had named Vince Lombardi. Coach Lombardi knew what it would take for change; it started with sacrifice, determination, and a burning desire to not be just good at your game, but to be great at your game. It’s fair to say he achieved that! Hard work and dedication pays off; his team would have told you that!

Another famous resident from Appleton Wisconsin was Harry Houdini. Mr. Houdini set a precedence that many famous magicians today will tell you. He was a role model for never giving up, trying and trying again. He would not give up; even to the end. It goes to show you that when someone tells you you can’t do something maybe it can just make it that much stronger of a conviction to succeed and taste the fruits of your hard work and labor. There are times you have to stand out of the box and take an outside view looking in.

It really does not matter what political party you may be part of today; we live in a great country that allows us to make that decision. I did have a great admiration for Ronald Reagan. He was polite, he was focused, and he knew in his heart he had to take risks, and he did. I admire anyone that can stand up and say no. I hope when I pass away I can be remembered for just being a decent man. I admired him.

 But in these times I really have a chance to take a step back and reflect on a Presbyterian minister named Fred Rogers ( Mr. Rogers) that one day said he did not like what he saw. He had the guts to say “I don’t like the direction kids are having to see today and I can make a difference. I can make a difference in many lives and I am going to. Mr. Rogers set his goals his way in a very unselfish manner. He always would put others first. He proved that. I wish the world had more people like him. He made a difference.

I remember my grandmother telling me those words over and over and over. They took hold and for the most part become part of my everyday. Procrastination has no part in business or life and it can take you down, and rob you of the rewards, riches, and great things you could have coming to you. It’s a cold, snowy day in Wisconsin and I look forward to a change in scenery one day like most do. The snow is beautiful but the icy roads, snow banks, and very cold temperatures lend for a lot of paperwork and scheduling to be done in the beginning of the day. As I put the finishing touches on my goals for 2010 I look back at them and question myself if I can really attain such goals and are they realistic. Pretty monumental changes and adjustments are in order and the time is just ticking away until they happen. The curious notion I tend to look at is the fact that I have refined my business goals to really going back to the basics. It’s not so much becoming that more viral connected or how to be in 8 places at once rather than 4, but simplicity is now key. My strength has always been in my phone and one on one. I am one of the regimented real estate agents in Waukesha County that prides himself on not only introducing himself to everyone but more importantly the fact that I want people to remember my name. My phone is key. It’s not hard to burn up 5,000 minutes a month on a cell phone when it becomes your life line for business.

Recently someone asked me how my Internet campaigns were doing and I replied “Just fine” but I reminded them that nothing will ever replace the human element of knowledge, closing ability, and sales sense that gets buyers and sellers to a successful closing. When you maintain a schedule of calling past, present, as well as potential clients it’s amazing how busy one can get, and keep busy as long as they prospect everyday. How will 2010 bring you change? Is this the year that you buy that one of those homes for sale in Oconomowoc Wisconsin, or one of those homes for sale in Waukesha Wisconsin. Is this the year that you take advantage of the tax credit for first time home buyers, or tax credit for present home homeowners. Whatever change 2010 brings you I hope it is productive, meaningful, and prosperous. Change is good!

“You know you can always call me to ask about starting your Waukesha County Business: The beauty of the SBA” Over the years in my career I can honestly say some of the greatest and most rewarding times were when I was at a SBA closing and the buy said to me “Thanks for pulling this off for me Tommy, I can’t believe I have my own business and building now.” That made me feel so good because the work and the effort that was put into every Small Business Administration process was a joint effort working with some very amazing people; local and government underwriters, helping buyers with their mission statement and business plan, and seeing that smile at closing. God, I love seeing that smile!

Another great day in the Waukesha County real estate market and once more Lars kicks it out! Who would have thought that hanging around with a really great search dog/ therapy dog could have such an impact on my business. Lately this hit home when one of my new found friends that works in the Oncology department in the new Aurora hospital in Summit said he would talk to his HR connection and see if I could get Lars in there to visit people. I love the thought. Lars is very used to visiting people in isolated care and hospital, as well as retirement facilities so I just smiled at the idea.

 It also resonates when clients call me and say “You and Lars be here about 4:30 so we can go look at the apartment building.” I get tweets on Twitter www.twitter.com/tombraatz and Lars has a city of people following him on Facebook.  The comments on www.Facebook.com/tombraatz  just rock about Lars. Little did I know that such a wonderful dog was great as a branding tool ,and who would of thought of that? Lars, you are a major player, a super closer, and a hand (paw) holder in every transaction. Now, we just have to get to warmer weather. Meanwhile, you just keep on looking dapper and having all those wonderful people relish you. I have no problem following you, because as we musicians say “You are a tough act to follow.!

The economy and life in Waukesha County real estate was up in the air for some time but we are finding ourselves buried in work and we would not want it any other way. It is true that they extended the first time buyer tax credit and even better they have a credit for existing home buyers that are looking to move up. What’s this all about? Want to know more?
