Driving along the beach front looking out at Pewaukee Lake you wouldn’t think of the history and activity
that existed there at one point. It wasn’t too long ago that we could always congregate at Calvanos for a Monday night open music party, at least from what I can recollect. Now all that is gone and there is a magnificent board walk of buildings in the whole streets place. prior to that, it was a simple life and enjoyment, trolley cars, picnics, and eventually an amusement park. That is all gone now and the only thing that is certain in ones eyes is the same magnificent Pewaukee Lake. My grandmother used to tell me that everyone in Waukesha would come out and spend the day and evening at Waukesha beach. The name was conceived by two businessmen that purchased a parcel in 1893. P.J. Buckley and T.E. Ryan purchased a portion of land along the southern side of Pewaukee Lake. The two named their new plot Waukesha Beach.
Right around the turn of the new century, Foster C. Phelps, owner of a Waukesha resort hotel and mayor of the City, purchased Waukesha Beach. In
the beginning, Waukesha Beach was a nice, calm place to go and relax a bit. Visitors could take a leisurely stroll along the beachfront or go diving from an enormous platform. Then, in 1910, the fate of the Beach changed as a small roller coaster, called the Figure 8, was constructed. The ride was immensely popular, drawing crowds in ever growing numbers, and in turn causing an explosion of activity. All kinds of rides, concession stands, and games began to appear. More boats began to make stops at Waukesha Beach, and trolley lines began to arrive with visitors on a daily basis. Two new roller coasters were added,and many other amusements awaited visitors, as Waukesha Beach. Time, and the economy had it’s way with Waukesha beach and now what stands a test of time is just that Waukesha Beach at Pewaukee Lake.

January 1st and people are calling me and asking me if I am ready to go back to work next week? Next week? I am already working on it. Someone asked me
if I see great change in 2010 and I was fast to remind them that the change has to first start in me. My beliefs, my core beliefs, my vision, my goals, my passion, my risks; it all starts with me. It starts with a burning desire to make a difference; starting with me. As the year starts I think of some role models that will allow me to reflect at times and see change in myself, the life around me, and real estate for sale in Waukesha County.
Being a Wisconsinite and being one of the Green Bay Packers fan I have a tendency to dwell at times
about a great coach we had named Vince Lombardi. Coach Lombardi knew what it would take for change; it started with sacrifice, determination, and a burning desire to not be just good at your game, but to be great at your game. It’s fair to say he achieved that! Hard work and dedication pays off; his team would have told you that!

Another famous resident from Appleton Wisconsin was Harry Houdini. Mr. Houdini set a precedence that many famous magicians today will tell you. He was a role model for never giving up, trying and trying again.
He would not give up; even to the end. It goes to show you that when someone tells you you can’t do something maybe it can just make it that much stronger of a conviction to succeed and taste the fruits of your hard work and labor. There are times you have to stand out of the box and take an outside view looking in.

It really does not matter what political party you may be part of today; we live in a great country that allows us to make that decision. I did 
have a great admiration for Ronald Reagan. He was polite, he was focused, and he knew in his heart he had to take risks, and he did. I admire anyone that can stand up and say no. I hope when I pass away I can be remembered for just being a decent man. I admired him.

Presbyterian minister named Fred Rogers ( Mr. Rogers) that one day said he did not like what he saw. He had the guts to say “I don’t like the direction kids are having to see today and I can make a difference. I can make a difference in many lives and I am going to. Mr. Rogers set his goals his way in a very unselfish manner. He always would put others first. He proved that. I wish the world had more people like him. He made a difference.

It’s a cold, snowy day in Wisconsin and I look forward to a change in scenery one day like most do. The snow is beautiful but the icy roads, snow banks, and very cold temperatures lend for a lot of paperwork
and scheduling to be done in the beginning of the day. As I put the finishing touches on my goals for 2010 I look back at them and question myself if I can really attain such goals and are they realistic. Pretty monumental changes and adjustments are in order and the time is just ticking away until they happen. The curious notion I tend to look at is the fact that I have refined my business goals to really going back to the basics. It’s not so much becoming that more viral connected or how to be in 8 places at once rather than 4, but simplicity is now key. My strength has always been in my phone and one on one. I am one of the regimented real estate agents in Waukesha County that prides himself on not only introducing himself to everyone but
more importantly the fact that I want people to remember
my name. My phone is key. It’s not hard to burn up 5,000 minutes a month on a cell phone when it becomes your life line for business.
Recently someone asked me how my Internet campaigns were doing and I replied “Just fine” but I reminded them that nothing will ever replace the human element of knowledge, closing ability, and sales sense that gets buyers and sellers to a successful closing. When you maintain a schedule of calling past, present, as well as potential clients it’s amazing how busy one can get, and keep 
busy as long as they prospect everyday. How will 2010 bring you change? Is this
the year that you buy that one of those homes for sale in Oconomowoc Wisconsin, or one of those homes for sale in Waukesha Wisconsin. Is this the year that you take advantage of the tax credit for first time home buyers, or tax credit for present home homeowners. John Weber a Milwaukee Real Estate agent purchased a 87 acre plot on the northern side of Waukesha, Wisconsin . 
Mr. Weber had no idea what was to come and the monumental impact he would have with the Moor Down mud baths and a health resort. Mr. Weber’s property had black Moor mud on it and it contained the same medicinal remedies that the black Moor mud did in Germany and the
European mud baths..
Upon a trip and follow up research to Germany the decision to built the Grand View Health resort was built and opened in 1911. This property is now part of the Waukesha County office buildings. Prior to the county the property was a Catholic seminary. The original hotel and resort was thirty two rooms with an addition that followed that added another thirty rooms. Andrew Frame, a Waukesha resident built a large golf course in 1919 around the whole complex and the golf course still is in use today.
1916 saw John Weber Jr. patent a new type of couch for mud baths made from clay or terra cotta. The 
whole system was heated and was easier to clean up as well. The baths at Moor Downs grew and added yet another wing in 1921, and a women’s bath in 1926. An east wing was added in 1928. Capacity was 200 visitors a day, the complex and had 108 rooms. In 1929, the stock market crashed and the Great Depression struck Waukesha and the entire country, The Grand View Health Resort switched its attention on attracting wealthy
Chicago visitors. They were known for slot machines and poker, as well as the traditional golf, baths and massages.
In 1946, John Weber Jr. retired from managing the Moor Mud Baths in Waukesha, Wisconsin . In 1950 the property was sold to the Salvation Brothers of New York, who turned it into a college. Finally, in November of 1972, the building that once housed the famous Moor Mud Baths was purchased by Waukesha County, and remodeled into the County Office Building. Just another beautiful property in the Waukesha County real estate market, in Waukesha,Wisconsin.
